Getting Started on CyberGamer

Well your here, Welcome to CyberGamer. This is are newest version of the CyberGamer site, so let me show you some of the features available to you.

There are two main parts of this site which will allow you to navigate to any page you may be searching for. First is the man navigation bar which is placed on the top of the web site and the other is the 'smart bar' which floats on the bottom of the website (once logged in).

Top Navigation Bar




Starting right at the top you have the options to change between the main website we have running here, and CyberGamer's TV site shown on the red tab.

Also you have your login, forgot password and sign up buttons positioned on the top right of the page. Before you can join a team, create a team or contribute in the forums you must be logged into a account. If you don't have an account it only takes 5 min to complete, then you will be posting and joining teams in no time.

To create an account click the 'Sign Up!' button. Fill out your registration form fully and correct, you should only be running with one CyberGamer account as one is all you need. You must have a unique Username and Email on the site to continue. After completing registration you will be taken to your new profile, take note at of the link in your address bar (it should look something like this ' http://www.cybergamer.com.au/profile/14398/ '). With this like you will be able to link your friends directly to your public profile. There are certain things that do remain private on your account such as email, post code, DOB and phone number(s) (as long as you have entered them in the right place).

The very next step you should take is to verify your email so you can join and/or create a team. Simply navigate to your email account, find the email sent from CyberGamer (Ensure that the email hasn't been marked as spam) and click the link in the message to verify/activate your account.

Smart Bar




The 'SmartBar' which appears at the bottom of the screen (once logged in), will display in an interactive form of activities, events, notification and items that need your attention. If you can not see this bar when you log in, ensure you are running the latest version of your web browser and clear your cache. Failing that contact /supportsupport.

The bar is broken up into two parts, LF PUG Look for PUG, LF Scrim, CG Entertainment and on the right Notifications, Mail, Buddies, Quick Links, Admin If Applicable, IMs. By far you will use the items on the right which have to do with your profile, your team and your peers.


That is the basic and brief layout of the CyberGamer site, your are now ready to complete your profile. Below is a quick overview of your profile. In the examples below I will use my profile.


Getting Started
Welcome to CyberGamer, throughout the site in the various areas there are certain icons to help you along the way. Some of the frequent icons are listed below with their meanings and actions in detail following.

  • Anywhere you see this icon, you can edit the content. eg In your profile clicking this button will bring down the module related in that box available for you to edit. You may also use this button to edit your team / clan profile. Click the button again to close the module

  • When you see either of these buttons it is advising you that you can close what ever is in front of you. From messages, chat and dialogues that appear on the site. It closing this layered event will bring you back to what you were looking at originally.

  • After changing a value in your profile or other parts of the site you must remember to hit the save button to ensure that the changes you have made are saved to your username. Some areas may not require to hit a 'Save' button and will update on a dynamic change. Only when no save button is present
  • -
  • After writing a comment, question or reply in a discussion board or forum hit the 'Post' button to as it says post to the board. Forums are updated dynamically so you don't need to refresh the page to see new posts from your self or other users.

  • If given the permission from Head Admin(s) you will be able to do special actions on the site, these may including moderation, team modifying and user modifying. You will be shown how to use these by your fellow administrators or moderators.




Your profile, is set up after registration. As mentioned above you will get a unique URL to your profile that you may pass to anyone to be linked directly to your account. You should take the time to personalise your account by adding things like, display picture, avatar, pc information, fun facts and more. Click image below to enlarge to view full profile.

The profile it self is pretty easy to navigate and pretty straight forward. The main FAQ we get from our members is how to; Change Username, Change Password, Change Email. All of these can be found in the one area of your profile, under 'General Information.

Once changing any of the values in that box you must click the save button to apply changes.


Your team page, again is as easy as editing and updating your profile. To begin with you must be in the area you want to create a team in, so in this example I want to create a team in the 'Call of Duty 4 Open Ladder'. You need to find the ladder you want to join so from the ' ' menu -> 'Call of Duty 4' -> Scroll down the list of ladder till you find 'Call of Duty 4 Open Ladder'. After clicking the link it will bring you to the ladder page, if you are not already in a team the top right will display two buttons. A green one named ' Join a Team ' and yellow one named ' Create a Team '. We want to click create a team, pretty straight forward. Ensure that the game selection is the right ladder and fill out the rest of the form with the greatest amount of detail.

After clicking complete the site will advise you that you have created a team, you will automatically be added to the team and taken back to the ladder page. You will notice that the buttons on the top right have changed, it will now read 'My Team's Home'. Clicking that button will take you to your team page where you can access all the information about your team, as well as add members and detail. You can also access your team page from the 'Personal links' in the smart bar.

Like your profile clicking on any of the 'pen' icons will open up a module giving you the ability to change the areas on your team. The main one you will more then likely use is the 'Members' section towards the bottom of the page. This is the module that controls who is in your team, what rank they hold and their current status.

A few different steps can be taken here

  • Inviting a Member - In the part that mentions 'Invite user to team' start typing the username of the player you want to add. You can continue typing or select from list, once full username has been entered click the tick button and a invitation will be sent to player. They must accept it to be able to play.
  • Change a Players Rank - Select a player in the drop down list (these only show players that are in your team), once member is selected use the rank drop down menu to select new rank. As soon as you click on a rank the members profile will be updated, certain ranks will give your members the ability to accept and invite members, challenge teams and accept challengers and edit the team profile page.
  • Delete a Member - To remove a player you start off with the same process as changing rank, but instead of clicking rank to change simply hit the cross button this will immanently remove player from your team.
  • Deleting Team - To delete your team, you must first remove all the members from your lineup. Then as the last step remove your self, the site will then remove your team from ladder and delete. If you just want to simply remove your team from the ladder you can do that by clicking 'Leave Ladder' under the 'General Details' module.
