I seem to be having issues with my mouse specifically in L4D2.
Okay when I stand still my mouse tracks like normal and move smoothly, but when I start moving the tracking becomes incredibly jumpy.
My crosshair will just completely stop moving for small amounts of time or just stutter very slowly to where I want it to go.
Does anybody have any advice on how to fix this?
Oh, I'm also using a Microsoft Sidewinder X3 if that helps.

You can try:
- Set MAXIMUM PRE-RENDERED FRAMES to 0, from your video card settings software.
- Disable Triple buffering/Vsync from your game.
- Update/Reinstall mouse driver.
- Uninstall mouse software if not needed.
- Restart your computer.
That's all I can think of.

wipe off the bottom side of your mouse, and wipe off your mousepad/surface

If i encountered this problem, I'd probably do:

1. Wipe mouse and surface down
2. Check wire to make sure there are not any tears in the wire
3. Uninstall drivers/software and reinstall just the driver and see if things are normal again
4. Hit my mouse a few times (release stress)
5. buy new mouse (or use warranty if that still applies)

Is it a problem you are having with ONLY L4D2, ONLY games (only Source engine maybe?) or everything. That would significantly narrow down the possible options.

After playing with the hardware settings I found the issue.
Thanks for all the suggestions!

I had acceleration enabled also my cursor speed was set ridiculously high on top of a 2000 DPI mouse.
