So, I was just thinking, you know... I've just been thinking that jimmy gibbs stock car...
So, I was thinking about trying to increase our weekly C4F's popularity. There are two ways I can think about doing it really, and both involve a video. I'd like to propose the idea of making a C4F Youtube account (We could use mine if that's not an option for whatever reason. Or I can make a new one for C4F). The videos (At least to start off with) uploaded on this account would be FRAPS (Or whatever program you choose to record with) videos consistently from the same player throughout one of our weekly C4F events. If we're able to, it would be great to get two players (One from each team) per campaign to FRAPS what they see, with voice playback on. This will allow players new to C4F (Or players new to competitive L4D) to see, and most importantly hear, what players are relaying back to one other for strategies. The best part is after an attack is shut down, you'll be able to go back to the other team (If both are able to record) and see what kind of positioning, weapons set up, and spawn assignments each player had to shut down the attack. If this ends up being generally considered a good idea, I think it would be important to include on the sign up sheet along with: In game name, Steam account, and skill level; if you are able to record video/audio to submit for your team.
We would be able to rack up a lot of videos very quickly, and whore the crap out of tags to get more hits quickly. In the video description, we would most likely want to copy/paste the exact same things in each video. I'm thinking, as far as what we would cover: We could explain what our weeklys are, and be sure to mention that they are very friendly to new players. Explain that each team is basically assigned 1-2 great players, to explain to the rest of the team what they are doing, and more importantly, why they are doing it, so that they are able to apply what they learn later on when they are playing by themselves. I think that when players hear in-game through our videos how forgiving the community is (Especially compared to raging public players), it will definitely attract more people to play, or at least try out to increase their ability to play in public games without getting raged at.
The second suggestion would be to take these videos, and take them to different forums. Obviously someone whom represents the site better than I do would explain to the admin of the forum that we are looking at, exactly what we are looking to get out of our videos, and we aren't necessarily looking to steal traffic from them, just bring more attention to the competitive scene and spark life into what used to be an incredibly supportive and friendly/rage free community.
