If a new forum and news site were to be made, I think it would be best to keep it free of any association with any league or tournament just as how L4Dnao was. If we create another website similar to this one, we have done nothing for the community except create more separation in the competitive community.

I'd also like to remind everyone that a second site for competitive L4D2 was created a while ago and it was not a success, which to me doesn't bode well for another website.

What exactly did you have in mind when you say "Cybergamer just isn't cutting it in terms of what we need for the community". A statement like this seems to imply you have some clear idea of what this website is missing. I am very interested in hearing what it is, because if there is actually something major this site doesn't have it would make the argument for a new site much stronger.

Dawkins, why are you blaming prodigysim for tournament fails? We told rorek he can run it. Why is this not good enough? I love how Rorek supporters still avoid the general question.
Like CanadaRox says, what is so wrong with CG that demonstrates the need to recreate a website if not for the reasons I stated before?

Beta, when someone tells you that the reason they don't want something on a website because of a single person, I will go ahead and claim anarchist. you were not there. You cannot comment.
Pidgeon: see above
Rorek and I have answered all of your claims multiple times, but u keep repeating then which I find funny. I have nothing left to say because clearly you will not accept an answer and keep throwing words that aren't true in our mouths. I have nothing left t offer this thread but I enjoy watching u rage more fr no reason. When u stop lying and being ignorant it'll make my day.

I m2 this thread

Honestly, I just want a website dedicated solely to the L4D community. I appreciate what CyberGamer has done for us after the original L4Dnao went under, but for the community to grow I don't feel CyberGamer is right. Let's all be honest here, we only use these forums because they were convenient at the time of L4Dnao's death. That's why we never saw CompL4D2 or L4Drama go anywhere.

@Canadarox: I might not agree with you, but I humbly respect your opinion. I'd like to see you back up this effort because you could be an invaluable asset.

@Tony Stark: There is no vendetta, no revenge plot, no ulterior motives, some of us just want to move on and you have to accept that.

Rorek and those concerned with managing the new site, you have my complete and total support. If I can help contribute in any shape or form please feel free to message me.

I have a feeling like this is one big troll thread. If you guys will not stop arguing about it, why not just do it? It's not like you need permission.. What's stopping you?

Time, energy, money all would be wasted if we didn't get feedback on the community on continuing with this idea.

I would love to see the community be revived, for the longest time I myself have wanted to play this game competitively, but i've honestly never had the chance to be able to, aand i'm sure many others haven't either, I would love to see new people play this game in the competitive scene, since its all just the same faces anymore.

It really isn't a troll thread, but as Intel said, it's all about community support. No one should have to waste the time, and especially the finances of attempting such an idea without first getting the community to back it. If we had just done it, all of these issues wouldn't have been cleared up, and I it would have just been that much worse.

It's a good idea, but what will happen after the tournament is over? I was talking to intel earlier and he said people will come back because there will be prize. But when its over everyone will leave the game again?

And about making a new website, it might bring more people in (new people). But at the same time, like someone else said, it would segregate people.

Honestly, I'd really love this tournament to happen, but would need to plan everything carefully and make good decisions so this doesn't fail.

Basically all I've seen here is a poorly thought out idea for a new website. Granted it'll be "new, improved and have features out the ass" but as said, that already exists.

To me there are gaping holes in the logistics and credibility of the idea. Many of which have been mentioned and brought up with answers that are little more than "Have faith" style responses. Some have been actually adressed. Tony Stark has made quite a few good points concerning the logistics (In between what I'll label trolling because I just don't give a shit). I don't care if Rorek is butthurt, if someone is trying to troll him or whatever.

Creating "Competitive L4D's" nth site is unnecessary. If you want to have your own name branded tourney make a steam group and do word of mouth advertising in scrims, over groups or whatever else. Creating more sites creates division in the community. You will literally waste time and money making a new website when the functionality already exists on CG, is being offered to you, is already known and accepted by the community etc etc.

Yes, the placement tourney was poorly organized and Rorek "wants to run it better" because "thats how the community wants it" to paraphrase something I think Dawkins said earlier. Of course that's how things SHOULD be done but no one has any idea of how things WILL be done until they are BEING done or the whole thing is over.

I also agree completely with Brizz, people will show up for a cash prize and then disappear again. Obviously what people do isn't in your control but if this "move" is supposed to be a postive for the community it should (Where possible): bring back old players, bring in new players, and then most importantly keep that interest otherwise it's all going to fall apart.

This is the first I've been around L4D2 in 3 months due to a break for personal reasons. I get referred to this thread by Intel and it's just drama about what's best for the "Whole" community with 2 (Somewhat) defined sides with neither side making their point all that well. Honestly, I hope this isn't representative of the community, because it seems like the same old trash.

But to be honest, I don't give a ****. Not my money or time. Do what you want with it Rorek and then "We will see what happens after.".

You make a lot of good points Mizzrym, but I believe that running a tourney through steam groups and word of mouth would not let you pull in new teams/players as well as you could. I know it might bring back the old players who have the contacts, and that's fine. I just think that new people would need a solid foundation at which to learn about the tourney, and a steam group page just isn't enough. And if we're looking at "saving" competitive L4D then we WILL need to bring in new players.
