Teamage: I've never played on a team before, but I have ringed/pugbotted some and spec'd a lot, so I understand how confogl games run.

Skill: No, I can't HR skeet, and I don't DS every hunter. I've never had my own server or someone with which to practice stuff like that (and bots are shit for practice). I usually go uzi/shotgun.

I'm looking for a team that plays nightly/almost nightly that I can learn from.

^Are people even interested in this? The L4D community just seems to me like if you aren't in comp yet then there's no way for you to get in because everybody knows everybody already and nobody wants someone new even though they have actual skill/potential. I feel like there's a huge chasm between comp/team players and people that just play the game and I'm stuck on the shitty side even though I'm much better than all of them.

Well L4D's community in both games hasn't always been the biggest or nicest one, but hey if you like the game what else are you gonna do?
You might want to consider starting a team, as I don't actually know of any teams who still play that are actually recruiting atm.
I was lucky enough to enter comp L4D by making my first team with some good friends, you could try to do the same.
Aside from that good luck!

It is tough getting on team without already having experience that's true, best way to get associated with people is to pug and ring if at all possible. With that you get experience and hey if you find some people that want to make a team all the better. I hear you though on trying to get into comp, only reason I think I got into it is by making a team, but that is not so easy =/

The thing is you go through that awkward tryouts phase by pretty much pugging with 2-3 random people. Then you don't feel like you know them well enough, so you don't want to say no but you're not sure if you really want to play with them again...Yeah, it's a messy business.

I'm considering starting a team. I've already contacted several of the people that posted on here recently. The problem with making a team with my friends on steam is that all of them are either already on a team or they suck way too hard. I've asked to ring with my friends on teams before, but I never get offers, and as pugbot never goes anymore I have no idea where to get PUGs.

Keep your eye on teams in the am division that don't have 4 for whatever reason. They are usually a lot more open to try people out than a team with 5-8 people as they will need someone before their next match.
